January 18, 2013

With just two months to go until Kick Butts Day, we are gearing up for the biggest day to fight Big Tobacco. But the battle lasts more than just one day. Our Youth Advocates of the Year Awards recognize youth from across the country who are doing an outstanding job of taking on tobacco year-round.

The Youth Advocates of the Year Awards honor top young leaders in the fight against tobacco — individuals and groups who have advocated for tobacco prevention policies, taken on the tobacco industry and its deceptive marketing and helped keep peers tobacco-free. On May 2, 2013, we will honor a National winner, a Military Youth winner and four Regional winners (East, South, Central and West) at our annual gala in Washington, D.C.

Our Youth Advocates of the Year receive ongoing assistance and training and play an important role in the national movement to reduce tobacco use, which is the nation’s number one cause of preventable death. Award recipients also receive a scholarship and a grant to continue their work.

So apply today or tell youth leaders you know about this great opportunity to be recognized for their contributions. Applications must be submitted online by Jan. 31 at 5 p.m. EST.
