2026-2027 Funding Opportunity
The Barrie Fund Community Action Grants have three objectives:
1) Identify and support youth-serving organizations/youth advocates who are committed to holding the commercial tobacco industry accountable.
2) Elevate stories from young people about how tobacco impacts them and their community.
3) Strengthen the advocacy capacity of youth advocates and youth-serving organizations to uplift youth voices.
We are excited about partnering with youth leaders in your community, helping to elevate youth-led initiatives leading to positive community impact. The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids can offer the following:
1) Thought-partnership: members of our team will be available for questions or advice during the proposal process, should it be needed.
2) Opportunities to shine a light on the problem in your community and share your project’s story across our national Take Down Tobacco social platforms. We are open and welcome to supporting youth-led social media takeover on our Take Down Tobacco Instagram, Facebook and/or TikTok channels.
3) Promoting your project and your social media content across our Take Down Tobacco and Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids social media channels.
4) Featuring your project and youth leaders on the Barrie Fund Page.
The application will ask you to outline a specific youth-led project your organization is passionate about and plans to implement by May 2027.
Proposed projects must directly address, or meaningfully intersect with, tobacco and nicotine use. Submissions should clearly define the issue your project seeks to address, describe your proposed approach or solution and identify the goals and/or call to action your project will advance.
If selected, you will be asked to fill out an ACH Enrollment Form and W9. Funds can only be dispersed to a 501(c)(3) organization or an adult coordinator representative for a qualifying project/organization.
Following the completion of your project, you will be asked to please share a short summary of your efforts (one-page at most) highlighting: overall outcome(s), how you met your goal(s), any lessons learned and offer highlights of youth involved and/or individuals impacted (e.g., quotes, stories, photos, videos).
Please note, these funds are not to be used to cover staffing costs associated with running your project. They are to be used to directly support youth-inspired and led initiatives.
These funds also cannot be used for lobbying (i.e., urging legislators to vote for or against specific legislation). However, funds can be used for educational advocacy to increase awareness of the harms of tobacco use and the benefits of tobacco control measures.
