Statement of Matthew L. Myers President, Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids

Washington, DC — The nation's children will lose a champion when U.S. Rep. James Hansen (R-UT) retires at the end of this Congress, as he announced today that he plans to do. As co-chair of the Congressional Task Force on Tobacco and Health, Congressman Hansen has been a leader in the fight to protect our children from the deadly addiction of tobacco use. He has been a strong supporter of comprehensive tobacco prevention legislation and has been a longtime advocate for regulation of tobacco products by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. We are grateful to Congressman Hansen for his years of service and dedication to our nation, and we wish him well.
