Vice President Gore To Host Youth Tobacco Roundtable

CAMPAIGN FOR TOBACCO-FREE KIDS’ 1998 Youth Advocates,Youngsters from Maryland and District to Participate

Washington, DC - On Friday, June 5, Vice President Al Gore will host a roundtable discussion on tobacco for more than 35 young tobacco control advocates. During the White House event, the youngsters will have an opportunity to talk about their desire to lead healthy, tobacco-free lifestyles without falling prey to the manipulative marketing practices of the tobacco industry. WHAT: Roundtable Discussion on Tobacco Issues WHO: Vice President Al Gore 1998 CAMPAIGN Youth Advocate of the Year Award Recipients: ? South Regional Winner: Deanna Durrett, 16, Louisville, KY ? Central Regional Winner: Amanda Tunnell, 16, Oklahoma City, OK Young Tobacco-Control Activists from Area Public Schools (Benjamin Banneker HS/DC; Quince Orchard HS/Gaithersburg; Richard Montgomery HS/Rockville; School Without Walls/DC; Tilden Middle School/Rockville) WHEN: Friday, June 5 1:05 - 1:50 p.m. (EST) WHERE: The White House Roosevelt Room NOTE: The event is pool for cameras, open for print media. Preset for media wishing to attend begins at 12 Noon (EST). Final access for the event will be at 12:45 p.m. Media must display standard White House press accreditation to gain access to the event.
