August 15, 2023
Statement of Yolonda Richardson, President & CEO, Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids congratulates Kathy Crosby on being named as the new CEO and President of Truth Initiative, an organization dedicated to achieving a culture where young people reject smoking, vaping and nicotine.

As the Director of the Office of Health Communication and Education at the FDA Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) and someone who helped launch Truth Initiative’s truth campaign, Kathy will bring the perfect mix of science, communication skills and her knowledge of the organization to help Truth Initiative in their critical work moving forward.

Kathy will be able to build on the amazing leadership and contributions of Robin Koval. Under Robin’s leadership, the organization’s media campaigns have helped to prevent millions of young people from becoming smokers and helped to drive down youth smoking rates to historic lows. I look forward to working with Kathy and continuing our longstanding and productive partnership with Truth Initiative on our shared goal of reducing tobacco use among young people.
