Anti-Tobacco-Use Websites

American Legacy Foundation
The American Legacy Foundation, established to reduce tobacco use in the United States as outlined in the Master Settlement Agreement, has created a web site where you can learn more about the anti-tobacco movement, see the Master Settlement Agreement's funding in action, get updates about public education efforts including the national Truth campaign and write your own story about your personal struggles with tobacco.

Cigarette Anyone?
Read first-hand accounts of the health effects of smoking from members of EFFORTS, a non-profit group taking an active role to facilitate education, treatment and, especially, a cure for emphysema and related lung diseases. Many of the contributors began smoking as kids.

CigaretteLitter.org
CigaretteLitter.Org is an informal, non-profit organization dedicated to dramatically reducing cigarette litter across the United States.

Coalition for a Healthier Ohio

Sponsored by the Massachusetts Tobacco Control Program, this site includes information from formerly secret tobacco industry documents as well as suggestions for how to get involved in the fight against the tobacco industry.

Joe Chemo
Joe Chemo now has his own web site. JoeChemo.org is an interactive web site that allows visitors to test their "Tobacco IQ," get a personalized "Smoke-o-Scope," and send free Joe Chemo E-Cards. There is also extensive information for teachers, anti-smoking activists, health care providers, journalists, and smokers who wish to quit.

First held in 1988, and observed annually on May 31, World No Tobacco Day is a global event established to call worldwide attention to the impact of tobacco on public health.

Young Choices
Cancer Survivor Don Young started smoking at the early age of 14. By age 48, Don underwent a series of operations for throat cancer which saved his life, but left him unable to speak. He now uses an electrolarynx which allows him to produce a robot-like speech. Today, as a cancer survivor, Don helps young people resist tobacco. By sharing his painful experience with others, Don hopes to save many young people from the suffering and premature death that tobacco can cause.
