This media event highlighted the support of the Kentucky Faith Community for policies to reduce teen smoking and help smokers end their addiction. A diverse group of faith leaders challenged their counterparts to join this new statewide effort. Kentucky's faith community has a unique opportunity to support important initiatives to dramatically reduce teen smoking in our state and save thousands of lives. Based upon the experience of other states, we know that higher tobacco taxes, smoke free workplaces, and adequate funding for tobacco prevention and cessation programs, will prevent kids from smoking, save lives and reduce health care costs.
