2009 Champion Award Winner Representative Henry A. Waxman

The TFK Gala Program Committee is pleased to announce that Representative Henry A. Waxman will be the recipient of the Campaign’s 2009 Champion Award.  This distinguished award is given to an individual, business or country that has demonstrated outstanding leadership in advancing tobacco control and improving the health of individuals, families and communities.

The Campaign is honored to present the Champion Award to Representative Waxman for his longstanding and tireless efforts on behalf of tobacco control in the United States and around the world.  Representative Waxman is a long-time friend of the Campaign and a committed leader in tobacco control.  This year, Representative Waxman introduced legislation granting the Food and Drug Administration authority over tobacco products, and shepherded that legislation through the House of Representatives by a bipartisan and historic vote of 326 to 102.

Representative Waxman will receive the Champion Award on May 6,
