About the Global Death Clock
The Global Death Clock began ticking on October 25, 1999. On that day, negotiations began in Geneva, Switzerland, on the World Health Organization's International Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. The Death Clock is a reminder that more than 7 people die every minute, even as our governments work toward controlling the global tobacco epidemic.
